Job summary
We are looking for a motivated Practice Nurse to join our dedicated and friendly team at Scots Gap Surgery. Due to retirement we have a vacancy for a Practice Nurse to work 24+ hours a week. Our list size is just 2,100 but over a large practice area across the heart of beautiful rural Northumberland. The post will involve working at our main site at Scots Gap and the branch surgery at Stamfordham. We have good access and are able to provide good quality care to our hardy, interesting and sometimes complex patients.The surgery is easily accessible for a pleasant traffic- free commute from Morpeth, Ponteland, Newcastle and the Tyne Valley.
Main duties of the job
The main duties involve playing an active role in the clinical team,
Review of long term conditions/Chronic disease,
Vaccinations- pneumonia, flu, shingles
Childhood immunisations
Infection Control
NHS health checks
Injections - B12 , LNRH antagonists
Cervical Smears
Continued personal development
Active participation in clinical and practice meetings
occasional wound dressing ( generally done by community nurses)
About us
Our team include 2 GPs, Dr Karen Buchanan and Dr Mathew Beattie, Practice Manager Nicky Renwick, a practice nurse (this could be you), a HCA/phlebotomist, 6 receptionist/dispensers and our admin team. We are also supported by a physio, Mental health practitioner, pharmacist, living well co-ordinator, paramedic, health visitor, dietitian and podiatrist. We are currently in the process of expanding the practice premises to provide room for all our attached staff.
