SALARIED GP

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed part time salaried GP to join our friendly and patient centred team at Stourside Medical Practice. GPs with special interests are encouraged to apply and accreditation/ experience as a GP Trainer would be an advantage although not essential and would be at an enhanced sessional rate..

Stourside Medical Practice is a purpose built, modern surgery based in Halesowen town centre with a good road network easily accessible from Birmingham and surrounding areas. The practice is currently caring for 6000 patients with a varied demographic. We are a GMS training practice and operate from an Emis Web/Docman software platform. We are a dynamic and digitally minded practice continually looking to evolve and can offer flexible sessions to suit your lifestyle.

Main duties of the job

Our salaried GPs are an essential part of decision making within the practice and are encouraged to participate with suggestions for system improvements; there are locally organised GP teaching sessions, regular practice meetings and monthly clinical meetings

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with laboratory results, queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

We have an experienced team of salaried GPs and practice nurses with the practice actively involved in a thriving Primary Care Network with a variety of allied health professionals supporting the practice including Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, Dietician, Physiotherapist and Mental Health support workers. We are an approved Training Practice with 2 trainees in post and an Advanced Diabetes Practice with an experienced diabetes specialist Nurse employed directly by the practice.

Job Description for Salaried General Practitioner

Summary of main responsibilities

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Position in Structure

Will report to the GP Partner (Clinically) and to the Practice Manager (Administratively)

Specific Duties/Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities:-

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including face to face surgery consultations, e-consult and video consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

Providing counselling and health education.

Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.

Delivering enhanced services.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions

Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
