About us
The Dove River Practice is a two partner, rural, dispensing Practice split on two sites; Tutbury Health Centre in Tutbury, a historic village well known for its castle and old coaching inn and Sudbury, a small picturesque Derbyshire village home to Sudbury Hall, which featured in the BBCs Pride and Prejudice.
The Partners are both full time; Dr Martin Gilchrist and Dr Richard Fulford.
We employ around 40 staff including two salaried GPs and also a long term locum. The rest of the clinical team is made up with an ANP who provides mainly acute on the day care and our Clinical Pharmacist who leads on medication changes, protocols and audits. We are a training Practice and we currently have a full time ST3 Registrar.
We have a list size of almost 8900 patients and cover a rural area between Burton, Uttoxeter and just short of Ashbourne (the gateway to the Peak District).
We have been a training Practice for 32 years and many former Registrars are now local GPs. GP training is an important and enjoyable part of our Practice. Dr Gilchrist is the approved Trainer.
We are high achievers for Q.O.F and enjoy above average income.
Our CQC rating is Good overall.
We are involved in Practice Based Commissioning and our local consortium includes all of the 18 East Staffordshire Practices known as East Staffordshire Primary Care Network which enables collaborative working.
