Job summary
The Lydney Practice (part of GDOC Ltd) have a vacancy, for a part-time Receptionist to join our friendly and experienced reception team.
As well as our large Practice team at Lydney, consisting of 5 established GPs, nursing team, dispensary team, pharmacist, pharmacy technician, ANP, GPA, care-co-ordinator and admin team.
You will form part of this existing team, working together to maintain a high quality reception service.
We are looking for a flexible team member who can cover receptionist 15 hours - Monday & Tuesday Mornings & 7 hours on Friday ideally.

Main duties of the job
Candidates
should have excellent customer service skills and experience of working with
computers. This is a very busy
environment where teamwork, multi-tasking, flexibility and attention to detail
are essential. We are a friendly
supportive team and full training will be given to the successful applicant.
About us
G DOC LTD is owned by all the GP Practices in Gloucestershire; the
Practices are our shareholders.
We operate on a not-for-profit basis: any profits are redistributed into
primary care in Gloucestershire.
We are a limited company run by a Board of Directors who are experienced
local GPs.
We run a registered practice for 9,500 patients at Gloucester Health
Access Centre and its branch surgery, Matson Lane and Partners in Health
(12,400).
Since January 2021, we have also run The Lydney Practice, in the
beautiful Forest of Dean. The Practice has about 8,300 patients.
Our Countywide services include:
The enhanced Access Service, which provides GP Appointments in
Gloucester and Cheltenham at weekends.
The Covid Virtual Ward: we monitor oxygen readings from people diagnosed
with Covid, to ensure that they get help if their oxygen levels start to fall.
So far, we have cared for over 2000 patients.
We provide over 17,000 primary care appointments each year at Gloucester
Health Access Centre for patients who may need to be seen the same day when
their own practice is already full, or who do not have a registered GP. GHAC is
open 8am8pm, 365 days a year.

- Ensure total familiarity with the computerised appointments system.
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
- Using your own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment, but who need urgent consultation, are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
- Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
- Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
- Ensure familiarity with the procedures for management of the computerised and written patient records, entering patient information on to the computer as required.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
- Prepare all paperwork necessary for surgeries and clinics.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant procedures and policies.
- Provide additional cover for holidays and sickness and have flexibility with rota arrangements.
