Phlebotomist for GDOC practices in Gloucestershire

GDOC is a limited company & we own
& support several general practices across the county in a number of ways,
and we are looking for a full-time phlebotomist to join the team.
We are offering a full-time contract with
the working week to be split over all sites.
Essential qualifications and qualities
You should be
educated in phlebotomy/venepuncture & be recognised as competent in this
skill or willing to learn
You will have
documented written evidence of all your training, updates and clinical skills competencies-
if already trained
Able to adapt and
work alongside different teams
Strong verbal and
written communication
Ability to work
within protocols
Desirable
Recent experience of
working in a General Practice is an advantage
Experience of
clinical IT systems e.g. system 1

Responsible To: Lead Nurse within practice
Hours of Duty: Full time
Job Summary/Purpose: To provide a phlebotomy service to patients registered at GDOC practices
Main Duties/Tasks/Objectives:
- To take blood samples by venepuncture from patients, as requested by the surgery.
- To complete all associated documentation
- To mentor and train new members of staff.
- To be sensitive to the needs of service users whilst performing an invasive procedure.
- To maintain and ensure effective and efficient use of consumable phlebotomy equipment.
- To comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 as interpreted in the Health and Safety Policy.
- To undertake all duties and responsibilities, at all times in compliance with the local policies and procedures.
- To behave at all times with courtesy and consideration to colleagues and service users, regardless of position within the organisation.
- To comply with the terms of the data protection act and other relevant legislation.
- To maintain patient confidentiality
