Medical Receptionist

Job summary

We are looking for a flexible, confident and empathetic person to join our friendly and dedicated Reception Team. This is a part time position for a Medical Receptionist. Experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. Working hours are between 8am - 6pm.

Main duties of the job

Main aspect of the role is to be the first point of contact for patients, secondary care and outside agencies. You will need a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. You will be required to provide admin support to our Clinicians by processing various tasks including prescriptions and follow up appointments whilst adhering to Practice policies and maintaining confidentiality at all times.

About us

We are a small practice based in North Ormesby, we have 4 GPs, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 1 Practice Nurse and 2 Health Care Assistants supported by our dedicated Reception / Admin Team. We take pride in offering an excellent service to our patients whilst supporting each other. We take pride in providing training and developing our staff to reach their full potential, encouraging progression.

To provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to both patients and other visitors, in person or via the telephone.

To ensure all reception duties are undertaken efficiently and promptly.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To have a knowledge and understanding of Practice policies and procedures.
  • To work in accordance to written protocols surrounding the reception team.
  • Filing post in medical records
  • Photocopying as requested
  • Dealing with patients and visitors both face-to-face and via the telephone
  • To be able to cover all receptions positions as necessary
  • Handling completed repeat prescriptions and processing requests where required
  • Processing appointments requests for patients by telephone and in person
