Job summary
Don Valley Healthcare are looking for a Practice Nurse to join our team. We are looking for a Practice Nurse who can actively contribute to both high quality patient care and ongoing development of the role.
Main duties of the job
This role will be suitable for a qualified Nurse or an experienced Practice Nurse to work as part of the present clinical team providing medical care to the patients over our 2 sites.
Our current team consists of 2 ANP's 2 Practice Nurses 1 NA 2 HCA's and a phlebotomist.
Working hours are negotiable upon succession.
About us
The Practice has a patient list size of approximately 14,000 patients over 2 sites in Bentley and Sprotbrough. We have 8 GP partners and 5 salaried GPs'
We are a training Practice for Doctors, Nurses and Medical Students as well as research ready.
The nursing and GP team have an extremely good work ethic and work/help each other out were needed to provide support to help run a healthy practice.

Job responsibilities
Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as
directed by GPs, training and development were required to achieve below:
- Cytology
- Contraception
- Wound care / ulcer care/Doppler
- Travel Vaccinations
- ECGs
- Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
- Venepuncture
- Hypertension Management
- Ear syringing
- Routine immunizations/Childhood immunisations
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Diabetes or Coronary Heart Disease.
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses
or GPs as appropriate
- Other tasks will include
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
- Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by
another clinician.
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment
rooms
- Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
- Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
- Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
- At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
- A duty to advise the partners of potential problems or errors
within a range of assigned tasks
- Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
- On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
- Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
