Job summary

Fernville Surgery is dedicated to delivering outstanding healthcare to our community. We are currently looking for a meticulous and well-organised Medical Coder to join our friendly and established team. The ideal candidate will have a solid grasp of medical terminology and strong communication skills to work effectively with a range of stakeholders. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical records and maintaining up-to-date electronic summaries for all patients registered with the Practice.

Main duties of the job

  • Review and analyse incoming documents and assign appropriate SNOMED codes for diagnoses and procedures in the EMIS medical information system.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify documentation and improve coding accuracy.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding practices, medical terminology, and regulatory changes.
  • Utilise software applications such as Word and Excel for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Assist in administrative tasks as needed, contributing to the smooth operation of the office.
  • Attend meetings of the Coding Team and contribute ideas to improve the effectiveness of the group.
