Job Holders Objectives:
To support the Operations Manager in management of the day to day running of the practice, ensuring the practice objectives are met.
Purpose of the Job:
The main purpose of the job is to assist the Operations Manager in the operation of effective customer friendly reception services and efficient clerical services within the practice.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
To assist the Operations Manager in ensuring adequate cover is provided in reception (this may mean undertaking extra duties as required)
To undertake administration duties as required including the processing of medical reports and producing appropriate invoices
To assist in the induction of new reception/administration staff in conjunction with the Operations Manager
To assist the Operations Manager in ensuring all clerical duties are undertaken to the highest standard and completed in a timely and accurate manner
To attend and contribute to reception meetings
To undertake training as required for the purpose of the job
To assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional
To provide a courteous, efficient and effective reception service to all patients, staff members and outside bodies
To ensure effective communication between patients and all members of the primary health care team
To maintain and monitor the practice appointments system
To collate, process and record information in accordance with practice procedures

Brunel PCN5 consists of 5 practices - Victoria Cross Surgery, Lakeside Practice, Eldene Surgery, Abbey Meads Medical Practice and Penhill Surgery. - In the course of performing these duties the post holder will have access to confidential material about patients, staff and the practice as a business organisation. All such information is to be treated as confidential.
- On no account must information relating to identifiable patients be divulged to anyone other than authorised persons, for example, medical, nursing or other professional staff, as appropriate, who are concerned directly with the care, diagnosis and/or treatment of the patient.
- Breach of this confidence may result in dismissal.
