WELLINGTON ROAD SURGERYis seeking a dedicated and dynamic Dispensary Manager to lead our busy dispensary team.
As Dispensary Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the dispensary; liaising with GP partners and practice manager to effectively purchase drugs, manage stock levels, ensuring adequate stock levels are held and minimising wastage & expenditure. You will regularly review drug supplier deals and change procurement where needed to ensure value for money. You will have previous experience as a Dispenser and hold a dispensing and management qualification.

- Organise the day-to-day operations of the dispensary, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery
- Manage and mentor dispensary staff, including induction and ongoing training, ensuring competency in all aspects of dispensing and compliance.
- Maintain accurate stock control, ordering, and inventory management for all medications and dispensary supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, CQC regulations, DSQS and practice policies, including those related to the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001 and NHS England guidance.

Job responsibilities
- Organise the day-to-day operations of the dispensary, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery.
- Ensuring the service meets the DSQS standards.
- Completing the monthly, quarterly & annual dispensing returns.
- Developing, reviewing and improving SOPs & policies.
- Manage and mentor dispensary staff, including induction and ongoing training, ensuring competency in all aspects of dispensing and compliance.
- Manage day to day employment of the team (5 dispensers) including holidays, absence, rotas, performance and recruitment.
- Take day-to-day responsibility for Controlled Drug (CD) management, including secure storage in compliant cupboards, accurate record-keeping, weekly stock reconciliation, and incident reporting. You will also ensure only authorised persons are involved in CD destruction.
- Ensure robust prescription security, including the secure storage of blank prescription forms (FP10, FP10MDA, FP10PCD) in locked, fireproof cabinets, maintaining a prescription register, and recording allocation to individual prescribers.
- Report any missing prescription forms immediately to the Practice Manager, and notify police and the ICB within 24 hours as required.
- Ensure all mandatory training is completed.
