Job summary

We are delighted to offer a position for a First Contact Physiotherapist to join a dynamic GP practice in Abingdon, South Oxfordshire.

Main Duties of the Job

The primary responsibility of this role involves assessing patients with MSK issues independently, without prior consultation with their GP, to quickly and accurately establish diagnoses and management plans.

You will play a role in optimising patient MSK pathways, sharing best practices with the broader primary care team, and leading patient education initiatives relevant to your expertise in physiotherapy and MSK.

The aim of this role is to have a first contact physiotherapy service for all MSK presentations. The role will complement our current multi-disciplinary team as we seek to build on and develop the high quality service we already offer to our local population.

Main Duties

We seek a friendly, efficient and determined candidate with experience in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of MSK conditions.

Consulting with patients in an empathetic, motivational way based on the latest available evidence will be a vital part of the job.

The post holder will have excellent interpersonal skills and be expected to provide leadership and collaborate with all other clinicians working within the network. An ability to embrace new ways of working including telephone and video consultations alongside traditional face to face contacts is an essential requirement.

Responsibilities

To work as an independent, advanced practitioner providing a high standard of specialist assessment and treatment within our practice to patients with musculoskeletal conditions.

To request relevant investigations to enable quick and appropriate diagnosis and inform treatment choices

To treat each patients data with sensitivity and have sound understanding of diagnostic services available locally

To have sound understanding and interpret and appropriately act on all results to facilitate in a speedy and appropriate diagnosis.

To create sensible treatment plans with a focus on clinician guided patient self- management plans

To be a responsible point of call for internal practitioners.

To support the use of current best MSK practice within the practice through the implementation of review and enquiries.

Experience

Comprehensive post-registration practice is required.

Experience of working with patients who have a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions (equivalent to band 7 or 8a).

Continued professional development (CPD) pertinent to clinical areas or at a specialist level of care.

Experience in ordering diagnostics/investigations & tests.

Experience in Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Chronic pain.

Experience of complex case load management.

Qualifications

Applicants must have current UK professional registration (HCPC)

Post Graduate Diploma or Professional qualification to Degree level accompanied by specialist accredited training and experience which is deemed equivalent to post graduate diploma level.
