In the role you will support the primary care function to
deliver key physical health services to the adult male and female patients
residing within the secure hospital.
Blackberry Hill Hospital, near Fishponds
is an NHS forensic psychiatric
hospital Fromeside is an 80-bed medium secure hospital caring for male and
female patients with mental illness and/or personality disorder, whilst Wickham
low secure service has 31 rehabilitation-focused beds, meeting the specific
needs of vulnerable male patients with ongoing mental health issues.
Vinney Green Secure Childrens Home Emersons
Green
In the role you will support the primary care function as
part of the wider health and wellbeing team to deliver key physical health
services to the children male and female patients residing in the secure childrens
home.
Situated in Emersons Green, Vinney Green secure
Childrens home is 24 bedded unit housing children between 10 and 18 years of
age who have come through the criminal justice system or the welfare system.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of the physical healthcare care team to
provide high quality primary care to the male and female patients.
In the role, you will:
Maintain your
registration in line with requirements of the relevant professional body
Participate
in the safe and effective delivery of primary care services
Undertake
comprehensive assessment of patient needs, including mental capacity and risk
assessment
Support
patients to manage their own health and promoting self-care
Support the
hospital mental health staff, the childrens home staff and patients with
health education
Previous
experience of working within a secure environment or mental health setting is
not required but you will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to the
delivery of quality and safe healthcare and an understanding of capacity
assessment and safeguarding.
With support from your line manager and a dedicated work
buddy, you will receive a robust induction at both sites. During induction,
you will be supernumerary, ensuring you are thoroughly supported until you feel
confident in the role.

About us
Fromeside is an 80-bed medium secure hospital unit caring
for people with a mental illness and/or personality disorder who also have a
criminal history or have risks and behaviours that mean they cannot be treated
in mainstream mental health services.
Wickham is a low secure hospital unit with
31 rehabilitation-focused beds across three wards, each meeting the specific
needs of vulnerable men with ongoing mental health issues who are at different
stages of recovery and with different levels of independence.
Vinney Green is situated in Emersons Green,
Vinney Green secure Childrens home is 24 bedded unit housing children between
10 and 18 years of age who have come through the criminal justice system or the
welfare system. Many of the patients will have suffered Adverse Childhood
Events so trauma-informed practice is needed.

The position will require you to work 2 days per week at
Fromeside with the remaining hours at Vinney Green Secure Children's Home.
(Working hours and days can be agreed following successful interview but must
fall within Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00)
Up to £34,000.00 per annum (pro rata) Registered General
Nurse or Allied Health Professional (depending on experience),
Up to £24,000 per annum (pro rata) Nursing Associate
(depending on experience).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical:
Within the scope of your clinical competence and training,
you will:

in the safe and effective delivery of clinical care services, including but not
