Job summary

Claverley Medical Practice is seeking an experienced Receptionist to join our wonderful team at our rural surgery which is situated on the borders of Wolverhampton & Shropshire.

This role would be approx. 25 hours per week. Mondays are required but other days/times can be discussed.

NHS working pattern contract for us is 8-8 but the surgery is open 08:00-18:30 Monday-Friday but does occasionally open on a Saturday morning to accommodate clinics such as flu vaccinations, covid vaccinations etc

We are also part of a network of local surgeries which chooses to offer occasional evening appointments across sites. However, successful applicants are only expected to work from Claverley Medical Practice.

Our surgery is CQC rated 'Good' and is very patient orientated.

This advert will be published for 4 weeks but may close early should we reach a desired number of applications.

Successful applicants will require a DBS check and will need to provide x2 references.

Main duties of the job

main duties of this role would include:

  • Opening & Closing of the surgery
  • Answering telephone calls
  • Actioning E-Consult triage requests
  • Booking & cancelling of appointments with a range of clinicians
  • Scanning & filing of clinical correspondence
  • Giving out prescriptions and taking payments
  • Actioning & replying to Emails
  • Assistant patients with queries

Job Purpose:

To ensure that the reception area of the Practice runs smoothly, provides a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team

Duties and Responsibilities

Telephone Duties

1.

Making and cancelling appointments

2.

Giving out results as per practice procedure

3.

Home visit requests

4.

Deal with general enquiries and complaints

5.

Contacting other providers

6.

Any other enquiries

Reception Duties

8.

Accepting new patients and temporary residents forms

9.

Greet and direct patients and visitors including signing in and out procedures

10.

Making appointments and dealing with appointment enquiries

11.

Handing out prescriptions and dispensed medication

12.

Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary

13.

Respond to needs of doctors and nurses during surgery

14.

Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services

15.

Deal with general enquiries and complaints as per practice procedure

Filing

16.

Pulling Lloyd George envelopes when requested by doctors and filing appropriately

Prescriptions

17.

Dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions as per practice procedure

18.

Dealing with queries relating to repeat prescriptions or directing appropriately to dispensary

General

Input and extract information from Practice computer system

21.

Observe health and safety guidelines at all times

22.

General housekeeping (e.g. keeping reception and waiting areas tidy)

Make refreshments for doctors and other team members, participate in washing up
