Job summary

We have 2 part time positions for care navigator/receptionists in a friendly GP practice in Halebank, Widnes.

The practice hours are between 7.45am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday. There are 2 vacancies as below:-

Hours as follows:-

Job 1 - 1.30 - 6.30- Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 7.45am - 6.30pm Friday. - 27.25 hours- salary - £16,254.

Job 2 - 7.45am - 1pm- Monday, Thursday and Friday 7.45 - 6.30pm- 26.75 hours - salary - £15,956.

With 30 minutes paid lunch.

The successful applicants will be invited to join the NHS pension scheme.

The practice has 4 female partners and a salaried GP. The post of care navigator/receptionist is to help patients to be directed to the correct service which is right for them.

Main duties of the job

To assist the doctors with passing on information to them regarding our 8400 patients. Answering the telephone, taking accurate information, processing prescriptions and booking appointments for patients.

Signposting patients to local services.

About us

The admin team consists of a practice manager, organisational manager, 2 administrative staff, 8 reception staff/care navigators and a secretary.

The clinical team consists of 5 GPs, 1 advanced nurse practitioner, 2 practice nurses, 1 nurse associate, 1 GP Assistant.

Receptionist job description

Post title Receptionist/Care navigator

Accountable to Reception supervisor, practice manager and partners

Essential Requirements

The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Ability to deal effectively with telephone calls from patients, district nurses, consultants, coroners office and pass precise information on to colleagues and clinical staff as directed

Ability to work with equality and diversity

Understand the necessity for confidentiality adhering to Caldicott regulations at all times

  1. Understand the role of teamwork in providing an excellent patient quality service

Motivated and enthusiastic

Commitment and attendance to mandatory training and practice meetings

Availability to provide cover during periods of sickness and holidays when requested to do so

Understanding of own behaviour and how this impacts on colleagues, patients and visitors

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To meet and greet patients in a professional and courteous manner

To sign post patients to other services when appropriate - (care navigation)

Make appointments for patients by telephone and face to face

Input data in to patient record using EMIS clinical system and perform scanning duties

Process repeat prescriptions (after training)

  1. Use practice email and intranet (adhering to strict guidelines)

Assist in the closing and opening of the surgery

Comply with all health and safety procedures

Attend training as and when requested, (even if it is a day when you would not normally be required to work), to develop expertise and further knowledge

Restock clinicians rooms, printers etc.

Be flexible when asked by practice manager to perform administration duties e.g. scanning or photocopying

Any other duties requested by the practice manager/reception supervisor/organizational manager.

To request holidays in a timely manner (at least 2 weeks notice), so rotas can be planned efficiently.

To communicate with Practice manager, Reception supervisor, partners, colleagues, patients in an effective, precise and courteous manner both on the telephone and face to face

To adhere to all practice policies at all times

To undergo DBS check

Be respectful to patients both F2F and on the telephone. All calls are recorded and can be randomly listened to by management.

This list is not meant to be exhaustive and it is important that all members of staff are prepared to take on additional duties or relinquish duties in order to maintain the efficient running of the practice. The doctors, practice manager and reception manager reserve the right to re distribute duties and functions amongst members of staff from time to time and requests for such changes shall not be reasonably refused.
