PRESCRIPTION CLERK /OFFICE
DUTIES
We are keen to employ for the above position with a
view to start as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be working in
a team of experienced prescription clerks and admin staff. It is desirable for
the candidate to have previous experience working in a general practice but not
essential.
The successful
candidate will be confident, self motivated and have pleasant telephone manners. Good command of
oral and written English is very important. Post holder will be expected to
work across 2 sites both managed by Dr Andreou and Partners.

(37.5hrs)
Main duties of the job
Produce repeat prescriptions according to
practice procedures and ensure timely distribution of completed prescriptions.
The
post-holder is required to use her/his own initiative when dealing with
problems and to make any reasonable and necessary decisions on events as they
occur, including:
Establishing and maintaining effective lines of
communication with the GPs and Practice Manager and members of staff.
Communicating clearly and effectively with staff to aid
the smooth running of the Practice.
Responding to requests or queries for support as they
arise in an appropriate and timely manner
Using judgement and experience in helping to determine
the relevant urgency of or requests for
information received from patients and other external organisations
Admin duties, dealing with patient medication queries, liasing with GP's. Working with the team, handling own workload.

We are an established training GMS practice
with nearly 20,000 patients based in Oldbury, West Midlands, in a new purposebuilt lift building. We have a team of 5 partners, 3 salaried gps, mixture of 11 nursing team from Prescribers, to treatroom nurses to HCA's and a administrative team of over 25. We have an excellent working team.

following are the core responsibilities of the prescription clerk. There may be
on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent
upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a.
Process
repeat prescription requests received by phone, email, fax, post, slips and the
online access system, in accordance with practice protocol
b.
Produce
prescriptions for the GP to sign in an acceptable timeframe
c.
Ensure
all prescription requests are processed and are ready for collection within a 48-hour
timeframe
d.
Generate
requests for medication on behalf of the patient for non-repeat items
e.
Actively
encourage patients to reconcile medications to facilitate monthly collections
f.
Discuss
with patients their requirements, encouraging patients to order only what they
require
g.
Act
upon compliance issues, liaising with the appropriate clinician
h.
Effectively
liaise with external services i.e. district nurses to ensure medicaments are
arranged for housebound patients
i.
Input
data into the patients healthcare records as necessary
j.
Deal
with all prescription related enquiries in a timely manner
k.
Record
and reported adverse effects accurately and appropriately, informing the
practice manager immediately
l.
Read
code data on SystmOne
m.
Carry
out system searches as requested
n.
Maintain
a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
