Job summary

We have a part-time vacancy (approx. 10 hours) for a Practice Nurse to join our friendly team. Roles will include, but are not limited to, the following: routine nursing duties, child immunisations, cervical screening and chronic disease management. We are looking for experienced practice nurse to do two half days or one long day in the practice. RGN NMC Registered.

Main duties of the job

Seeing and assessing patients who ask to see the practice nurse. Providing appropriate advice and education

Syringing ears, taking blood samples, taking swabs, administering vaccinations, testing urine, measuring blood pressure, inserting eye drops

Offer a holistic approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice to patients prior to travel including; vaccinations and medicines, safe sex, food hygiene, sun protection.

Perform cervical cytology smear tests

Running paediatric immunisation recording and recall system.

Assessing problems presented opportunistically by patients.

Able to document Consultations according to NMC guidelines

Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral. Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse.

Suture removal.

Take ECGs

Able to recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines.

Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained.

Confidentially of information gained at work must be preserved at all times.

Able to work on both surgery sites in Nottingham City Centre and in Mapperley.

Travelling to carry out assessments in the patients homes for those who are housebound or exercise their right to a home assessment

Any other duty as requested by the Partners or Managers to assist in the smooth running of the Practice.

Knowledge of EMIS (desirable, full EMIS training will be provided if needed)

About us

We are a busy GP practice with just over 10,000 patients, operating across two sites in Nottingham city centre and Mapperley. We are a training practice consisting of 6 GP Partners, 3 salaried GPs, 4 practices nurses, registrars and a friendly team of admin and reception staff.
