Job summary

We are a large busy GP practice in the Preston Park area of Brighton. We are looking to recruit two new receptionists with excellent communication and customer service skills and the ability to work well under pressure, to join our experienced team. 

We have various hours available across the week, up to full time hours. Days and times negotiable. 

Main duties of the job

Medical receptionists are an integral part of the practice and first point of contact for our patients. The role is varied and challenging and includes;

  • Welcoming patients and visitors
  • Taking calls
  • Booking appointments
  • Dealing with Queries
  • Assisting in the smooth running of the practice 

About us

We are a large training medical practice with approx. 14000 registered patients who are cared for by a multi-disciplinary team.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures/adhere to protocols

Receive patients at front desk; dealing with all queries and requests including taking payment for any non GMS work carried out by the surgery

Deal with all telephone enquiries including booking appropriate appointments

  • Process appointment requests efficiently and courteously via telephone and in person
  • Registration of new patients; following procedures and protocols in place
  • Be able to process computer data; including change of address ensuring they are still within Practice area
  • Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines
  • Action incoming tasks
  • Monitor incoming emails to the practice generic account
  • Clear rooms after surgeries
  • Check waiting area tidy
  • Ensure that all messages/information is correctly relayed and in a timely manner
  • Process any administrative tasks associated with Role
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Assist in maintaining high levels of infection control
