Job summary
As a Dispensary Assistant you will be working as part of our dispensary team, helping to provide an efficient and professional dispensing service in line with practice policies and procedures. You will help ensure patient needs are met in a timely and efficient manner, providing excellent customer service.
We are planning to expand our dispensary and this is a great opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their skills within a growing team.
Main duties of the job
Dispensing NHS prescriptions for dispensing patients in a timely manner.
Providing a repeat prescription service, which includes taking requests by telephone, email and repeat slips.
Handing out medication and dealing with face to face queries.
To answer the telephone and assist in patient enquiries.
Assist with stock controls.
Liaise with other healthcare professionals.
Ensure that confidentiality of patient information is respected at all times.
To assist with maintaining a clean and tidy working environment.
Working in accordance with Dispensary SOPS at all times.
Any other duties appropriate to the post.
About us
Saxon Spires Practice is a large two site GP Surgery based in Guilsborough and Brixworth, with excellent patient feedback and a committed team. We are a friendly, innovative practice with 8 Clinical Partners and 5 Salaried GP's, plus an excellent Nursing and Admin Team. We have a dispensary at both surgeries and are planning to create a hybrid pharmacy/dispensary at Guilsborough Surgery.
Due to our rural location, having a reliable source of transport is essential and free parking is available.

Dispensing using the Emis computer system
Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy
Providing a repeat prescription service which includes taking requests by telephone, electronic requests, email and repeat slips.
Handing out prescriptions and collecting charges when appropriate
Sorting, counting and endorsing prescriptions
Ordering appropriate quantities of goods via the wholesaler's computer link
Checking goods as and when they are delivered
Returning incorrect goods to the wholesalers
Stocking shelves, refrigerators and other storage areas using rotation method
Safe disposal of returned and/or out of date medicines
