Job summary

Pioneer Medical Group is seeking a motivated Research Healthcare Professional to play a key role in the delivery and coordination of clinical research across our practices.

This is an excellent opportunity for a registered healthcare professional who is passionate about research, enjoys working with patients, and wants to contribute to high quality studies that make a meaningful difference to patient care and the wider NHS.

This is a new role offered on a 12 month fixed term contract.

Hours: This post is offered at 14 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours, up to 18 hours per week, depending on the salary band at appointment and available funding.

Main duties of the job

Pioneer Medical Group is an established, research active academic primary care organisation with a strong track record of delivering NIHR portfolio and commercial studies. The post-holder will play a key role in the delivery and coordination of research activity across the practice, ensuring studies are conducted safely, efficiently and in line with regulatory requirements.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post-holder will provide day to day clinical research delivery, support recruitment and followup of participants, and contribute to maintaining high standards of governance. The post-holder will work with increasing autonomy, making decisions within their professional scope, while escalating complex issues to senior research leads when required.

Clinical Research Delivery

Deliver clinical research procedures according to study protocols and GCP.

Conduct patient screening, eligibility assessment, informed consent, and data collection.

Perform clinical tasks within scope of practice - e.g. sampling, observations, ECGs, assessments.

Ensure participant safety through monitoring, adverse event reporting, and clinical judgement.

Maintain accurate, highquality documentation, case report forms, and study records.

Operational Management & Study Coordination

Coordinate daytoday study activities, ensuring visits, appointments, and data entry are completed.

Support the setup of new studies, including feasibility assessments and logistics planning.

Ensure effective communication with sponsors, NIHR research networks, and external partners.

Manage time and workload across multiple concurrent studies, escalating capacity issues when needed.

Contribute to tracking recruitment targets and study milestones.

Team Support, Development & Collaboration

Assist in supporting other members of staff, such as HCAs, administrators, or newtoresearch colleagues.

Share knowledge and contribute to training around GCP, protocol procedures, and research processes.

Work closely with clinical teams to embed research in routine care pathways.

Promote a positive, inclusive research culture across the practice.

Participant & Stakeholder Engagement

Build strong relationships with patients to support participation and highquality research experience.

Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, NIHR partners, and external stakeholders.

Support patient and public involvement where appropriate (e.g. PPG input and patient events).

Support the uptake of PRES by raising awareness among patients and staff, embedding PRES into research workflows, improving patient engagement and response rates, monitoring and improving uptake and championing a feedback culture.

Governance, Safety & Quality

Ensure compliance with GCP, NHS research governance and data protection standards.

Support monitoring visits, audits, and inspections by maintaining excellent documentation.

Participate in risk assessments, quality improvement projects, and service evaluation.

Contribute to safe storage, handling, and transport of samples and investigational products.
