Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled MSK Physiotherapist to join our GP Practice as a First Contact Practitioner (FCP). This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of primary care, providing expert assessment, diagnosis, and management of musculoskeletal conditions.

You will play a key role in improving patient access, reducing GP workload, and delivering high-quality, evidence-based MSK care within a primary care setting.

Main duties of the job

  • Act as the first point of contact for patients presenting with MSK conditions
  • Undertake assessment, diagnosis, and clinical management
  • Formulate management plans including self-management, rehabilitation, and onward referral where appropriate
  • Identify red flags and ensure appropriate escalation or referral
  • Request and interpret investigations (where appropriate to role)
  • Work collaboratively with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Provide education and support to patients to promote self-management

    The Armada Family Practice works from a modern purpose-built health centre with a practice population of circa 16,300 patients. We are looking for an experienced MSK specialist to join our multi-disciplinary team.

    Our clinical team comprises of 3 GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Paramedic Practitioner, Practice Community Nurses, Practice Pharmacists, Practice nurses, HCAs, GP assistants and a large administration team.

    • Conduct comprehensive Musculoskeletal clinical assessment for patients over the age of 18 years
    • Diagnose and manage a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions following current clinical guidance and evidence-based practice
    • Develop and implement individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans
    • Provide first-contact practitioner (FCP) services where applicable
    • Refer patients for imaging, specialist care, or onward services when clinically appropriate
    • Deliver joint injections (if qualified)
    • Provide advice on pain management, exercise, and lifestyle modifications
    • Support patients with self-management strategies
    • Work collaboratively with GPs, physiotherapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Desirable

    • Injection therapy qualification
    • Independent prescribing qualification
    • Experience as a First Contact Practitioner (FCP)
    • Knowledge of NHS pathways and referral systems
    • Current IRMER training and competency in requesting appropriate radiological investigations
