Together with our dedicated and supportive team of GPs and Nurse Practitioners, our practice nurses provide a very high standard of care for the 17,000 patients registered with the Armada Family Practice at Whitchurch Health Centre.
Main duties of the job
We are now
looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and forward- thinking nurse who
is committed to providing high quality care to patients.
The role
includes child immunisations, cervical screening, sexual health services, travel health, wound care including Doppler assessment, leg
ulcer management andlong-term condition reviews.

The Armada Family Practice is located at Whitchurch Health Centre, a modern, purpose built health centre that houses a separate treatment room suite, comprising of phlebotomy bays and consulting rooms.

Job responsibilities
Assist in and perform routine tasks related to
patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs. Such tasks may
include:
- Wound
care / leg ulcer care
- Complete chronic disease review
- Cervical
sampling
- Contraception
reviews
- Removal
of sutures
- Hypertension
and CHD reviews
- Urinalysis
and processing of samples
- ECGs
- Venepuncture
- Blood
pressure measurements including 24 hour blood pressure recording
- Routine
immunisations
- Travel
Health
- Chaperoning
and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another
clinician
- Requesting
basic pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Following
agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs, or the
wider multi-disciplinary team as appropriate
- Participating
in clinical audit to help develop the service

Other tasks including:
- Undertake
housekeeping duties including, general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses
and treatment rooms
- Ordering
of vaccinations, medications and other essential stock to maintain stock
levels
- Working
in a cost-effective way
- Participation
in administrative systems in the practice
- At
all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
- A
duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the
range of assigned tasks
- Attend
and participate in any practice meetings when required.
