Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly nursing team at Crown Heights Medical Centre.

We are a busy city centre practice and we pride ourselves in proving a high standard of care in a supportive environment delivering a patient focused service.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential as training will be offered to the right candidate who shows willingness and the ability to learn

The role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday morning.

You might be required to work at our branch site at Old Basing on occasion

Main duties of the job

New patient health checks

ECG recording

24 hour blood pressure monitoring fitting and downloading of results

Phlebotomy

Spirometry

LTC checks including Diabetic foot checks blood pressure height and weight

Wound care to include Doppler assessment and compression bandaging

Vaccinations including flu and shingles

Chaperoning duties

Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses

Vaccine/cold chain storage monitoring and recording

Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual

Use appropriate infection control procedures and maintain work areas in each clinical room so that they clean safe and free from hazards reporting of any potential risks identified.

Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being.

About us

We look after nearly 28,000 patients in and around central Basingstoke The Practice is located in central Basingstoke near to Festival Place shopping centre and opposite the train station and on a direct route for local bus routes. We are a short distance from the M3, with direct links directly to London and surrounding cities are easily accessible via public transport.

The clinical team is led by strong 9 GP Partners, 7 Salaried GPs, 11 nurses/HCAs as well as additional ARRS colleagues. We have a fantastic One Team who support housebound & care home patients in the community, and we have a strong relationship in our PCN.

You will be automatically enrolled into the NHS Pensions scheme when you join us and our staff regularly have team events and nights out to help create and maintain good working relationships.

REPORTS TO: Lead Nurse

Job Summary:

Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

New patient health checks;
