Job summary

We're looking for an experienced Practice Manager to provide strong operational and strategic leadership at our well-established GP practice. You'll champion our core valuesopenness, fairness, respect and accountabilityand support the GP Partners in ensuring we deliver high-quality, compassionate care to our 9,250 -strong patient list.

Main duties of the job

  • Oversee the smooth efficient and safe daily running of the practice managing operations across clinical and nonclinical services

  • Lead on direct national and local enhanced services QOF GP contract and PCN indicators

  • Manage practice finances including budgets financial reporting invoicing and debt recovery to ensure sustainability and profitability

  • Recruit induct manage and support staff clinical and nonclinical including appraisals performance management payroll and pension oversight

  • Ensure premises and equipment compliance with legal health and safety and infection control standards

  • Maintain compliance with NHS frameworks CQC GDPR and other regulatory requirements including conducting audits handling complaints and driving quality improvement

  • Oversee IT systems and lead on digital transformation initiatives

  • Develop business cases for service improvements and represent the practice at meetings with PCN ICB external stakeholders and neighbouring practices

  • Coordinate business continuity and risk management planning

  • Support safeguarding and ensure policies are understood and followed by all staff

Walkden Medical Centre has proudly served our community since 1962 from our purpose-built premises near the town centre, with excellent transport links making us easy to reach.

Were a friendly, well-supported practice with 4 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GP, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 1 Practice Nurses, and an HCA/Phlebotomistall backed by an experienced and extremely supportive admin and reception team.

As an active member of the Walkden & Little Hulton PCN, we work closely with neighbouring practices and benefit from ARRS roles including 3 clinical pharmacists, a pharmacy technician, , a social prescriber, a paramedic, and 2 care coordinators.

  • Good standard of education with strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in business healthcare or management

Desirable

  • Leadership or management qualification such as AMSPAR ILM CIPD or equivalent

Experience

  • At least 3 years experience in a senior management or leadership role
  • Financial management experience including budgeting and forecasting
