Job summary
We are looking to recruit an Administrator/Clinical Coder to join our friendly, supportive, and energetic practice team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for interpreting medical terminology and clinical coding the information onto patients medical records to a high standard, processing referrals and clinical correspondence and a wide variety of other administrative duties including providing admin. support to the clinical team. They must have the ability to deal with people in a professional and friendly manner. You must be able to work as part of a team and have a 'can do' attitude. Good IT skills (preferably in EMIS Web) and the ability to work in a fast paced environment are also required. Previous NHS GP clinical coding/read coding experience is essential.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate should have IT skills, be meticulous and manage their work to a high standard. You must have the ability to work as part of a team, remain calm under pressure and be able to multi-task and show initiative.
A working knowledge of medical terminology, preferably in a GP surgery is essential for this role.

The Walkden Medical Centre team is expanding and we are looking for the right person to join our busy, friendly practice team of 4 GP partners, 2 Salaried GP's, 2 ANP's, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA and an experienced and supportive reception and admin team. We provide a high level of care to 8,700 patients.

Job Summary:
To provide administrative support and services to all members of the practice team.
Job responsibilities (list is not exhaustive):
Management of medical records
- Extraction of necessary data from clinical correspondence and code onto electronic patient record using workflow optimization process.
- Read Coding information onto the practice clinical system.
- Scanning of letters and relevant correspondence into patients notes.
- Filing and retrieving paperwork.
- Process, handle and monitor patient referrals through the e-referral system (and any subsequent or alternative systems) as necessary.
- Type referral and other clinical letters.
- Set up, process and maintain medication for patients on weekly medication.
- Administer and monitor the Ulysses/Datix reporting system as necessary.
- Process requests for copies of medical records for patients and other providers.
- Summarisation of patients notes when requested.
- Report faults to software supplier and track progress.
