Job summary

The successful applicant will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing a welcoming and professional service both in person and on the telephone. Duties will include booking appointments, dealing with patient queries, managing prescriptions, and supporting the wider practice team with administrative tasks.

Main duties of the job

To provide a first class reception service to the practice

While previous experience in general practice isbeneficial, it isnot essential. We are looking for someone with:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A friendly and approachable manner

Good IT and organisational skills

The ability to work as part of a supportive team

Must have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn

Job Description Part-Time Receptionist

JOB TITLE:

Part TIME RECEPTIONIST

RESPONSIBLE TO:

Reception Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

Greeting patients and visitors in an efficient and courteous manner

Provide an effective and polite telephone enquiry service

Proactively communicate information between relevant patients, doctors and professionals

Booking patient appointments, handing out medications and prescriptions

Assisting admin team with referrals and insurance documentation

Scanning documents

Photocopying, filing

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet patients and visitors to the practice.

Book in patients and visitors in line with practice appointments and visitors procedures.

Respond and/or redirect all patient and visitor requests accordingly.

Booking, amending and cancelling patient appointments.

Answering incoming telephone calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirected accordingly.

Ensure up-to-date maintenance of both computerised and manual filing systems (i.e. patient notes).

Hand out prescriptions/medications to patients.

Deal with patient queries.

Assist the admin team with chasing referrals and sending out documentation relating to insurance claims and medicals.

Undertake computerised mandatory training.

Ensure answering machine service for out of hours information is directed appropriately switched to answer machine at close of practice and back to surgery each morning

Attend staff meetings contributing ideas where appropriate.
