Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our very, very fun, friendly, supportive and proactive team as a salaried GP/Partner. We are a 3 partner highly regarded GP teaching and training practice in a purpose built health centre in Mountain Ash which is a 25 minute commute from Cardiff. Salary and sessions are negotiable with flexible working considered wherever possible adhering to safe BMA workload and a low frequency of on call.There is an option for portfolio working within Dermatology/ENT/Geriatrics/A&E (eg 4 sessions in practice 2-4 sessions within the selected speciality).
The post has great support from our 3 motivated and involved partners, along with our experienced permanent clinical team which includes 3 salaried GP's, Pharmacist, 3 ANP's and Nursing team along with a strong management and administrative team. We also have extended support from our cluster team which includes Physiotherapist, Mental Health Worker and Pharmacist. We are also very fortunate to have Professor Kamilla Hawthorne, chair of RCGP and Bevan Commissioner working in our team.
Main duties of the job
- In accordance with the practice timetable , as agreed, the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery face to face, telephone and online consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries , paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
- Completion of medical reports as required.
Opportunities will be available for teaching and development of special interests.
The Practice is willing to wait for the right candidate and we would welcome newly qualified GPs.
