Job summary
St Helens North PCN is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic newly qualified GP to join our Primary Care Network under the Additional Roles
Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS), in line with the NHS Directed Enhanced Service
(DES). This is an excellent opportunity for a GP at the start of their career
to gain valuable experience working within an innovative, supportive, and
multidisciplinary PCN environment.
The successful applicant must have been qualified for less than 2 years at appointment to the post and must adhere to guidelines for the role as set out in the DES.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join our friendly Urgent Care Hub team, working alongside one other GP and the Hub Manager. The purpose of the Urgent Care Hub (UCH) is to support the increasing demand in general practice for same day / urgent care and provide patients with increased and improved access to urgent care.
You will work in partnership with the six practices that make up the PCN, as well as with other ARRS staff and partner organisations, supporting the care of patients requiring urgent same-day appointments. You will play a key role in helping to redesign and refine how we deliver care to these patients, contributing to improved outcomes and service efficiency.

the growing demand for same-day and urgent care within general practice,
offering patients of the PCN enhanced and timely access to urgent medical
services.

post holder will be an integral part of St Helens North Primary Care Network, a
collaborative team comprising six practices: Garswood Surgery, Windermere
Medical Centre, Bethany Medical Centre, Kenneth MacRae Medical Centre, Rainford
Health Centre, and Billinge Medical Centre. Together, we serve a combined patient
population of approximately 30,000.

Using your clinical expertise, the primary focus of the role is to work as an autonomous practitioner providing high-quality and timely patient-centred care to assess patients who present with a broad range of situations and conditions. The Urgent Care Hub (UCH) which runs Monday Friday, 10am 6pm aims to help meet the growing demand for same-day and urgent care within general practice, offering patients of the PCN enhanced and timely access to urgent medical services.
Regular duties will include;
- Face to face and telephone consultations.
- Interpret history of illness, presenting symptoms and physical findings to enable diagnosis, planning and treatment of patients.
- Undertake diagnostic assessments, health screening and therapeutic interventions and will recommend further investigations and refer to other agencies as appropriate.
- Work as an autonomous clinician across all areas to develop and provide expert clinical advice, support and care.
- Take part in regular clinical and team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Checking and signing repeat prescriptions.
- Travel to all six practices across our Network as required.
