Job summary
The Nelson medical Practice is a dynamic, forward thinking and friendly practice and we have an exciting opportunity for a Practice Nurse to join our team working 30 hours hours per week over 2 and a half days, Monday all day, Tuesday half a day (PM) and Friday all day. We operate from a large modern purpose built building, based in Wimbledon Chase served well by public transport. We have an experienced and stable clinical workforce with a keen focus on high quality patient care. You will work work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and you will support and care for a diverse patient group. As a large Practice on a single site we have a strong emphasis on out team. We have an experienced team of Nurses, a nurse mentor and a Nursing Team Manager so you are always well supported.
Main duties of the job
The Practice offers dedicated in house baby clinics for diabetes, minor surgery, family planning, postnatal and baby checks and baby immunisations. As well as offering a wide range of care from smears to wound care to immunisations and Chronic Disease Management and travel immunisations.

Main duties and responsibilities;
- Provision of health advice both face to face and via the telephone
- Undertake immunisations in accordance with local and national guidelines ( Patient Group Directives)
- Carry out patient screening e.g lipids, blood pressure checks, cervical smears etc.
- Carry out clinics in line with qualifications / competencies e.g diabetic clinics, hypertension, asthma, warfarin, contraception.
- Provision of travel advice and administer appropriate vaccinations
- ensuing clinical rooms are kept in a clean and tidy manner compliant with infection control
- ensure that drug refrigerators are at the correct temperature on a daily basis and download of data loggers
- Act at all times with regard to the confidentiality and sensitivity of issues to do with the patients, their care and their treatment
- all contacts with patients to be recorded on EMIS our clinical system
- Ensure that infection control procedures are followed in accordance with local guidelines in in line with CQC guidance.
- Attend Nursing Team meetings
- Have knowledge of and act at all times within the boundaries of qualifications, competencies and within health and safety legislation and GDPR.
