Are you a phlebotomist/HCA looking to work in Primary Care?
Rydings Hall Surgery have a fantastic opportunity for a
phlebotomist/HCA to join our friendly practice. You would be part of our
nursing team and receive help and support if required.
You will focus on providing a safe phlebotomy service,
supporting patients, taking routine blood tests from different age groups (as
requested by clinicians), maintaining clinically accurate records and managing
own phlebotomy clinics, with support from the Lead Nurse.
You will work collaboratively with the general practice team
to meet the needs of patients and support the delivery of policy and
procedures, providing phlebotomy guidance as required.
To maintain mandatory training and remain current in
practice.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job
Phlebotomy - performing blood draws for
diagnostic testing.
Health promotion discussing lifestyle factors.
Basic observations recording blood pressure,
height, weight, temperature, and pulse.
Vaccinations & injections - administering
flu jabs, B12 injections, covid, RSV, pneumonia, shingles etc.
BP / hypertension reviews
Wound care assisting - basic wound care, suture
removal, and clip removal under nurse supervision.
Chaperoning providing support during
examinations and procedures.
Sample management processing and handling
laboratory samples requested by GPs or nurses.
Health campaigns supporting flu and covid clinics
and other initiatives in collaboration with the Lead Nurse.
Stock management - ordering clinical supplies.

You will collaborate with our clinical teams to provide exceptional primary care services to our patients. Your role will include a mix of Phlebotomy/HCA duties and clinical administrative tasks as part of your daily responsibilities.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Conduct new patient health checks and other health screenings.
- Perform urinalysis and prepare specimens for testing.
- Carry out routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, providing appropriate patient advice.
- Conduct blood tests (phlebotomy).
- Administer vaccinations, including flu and pneumococcal vaccines.
- Provide B12 injections.
- Perform wound care, dressings, and other clinical tasks either independently or under supervision.
- Educate patients on health and well-being, promoting NHS campaigns when necessary.
- Gather lifestyle data for accurate record-keeping and guide patients toward relevant health resources.
- Maintain infection control standards and manage clinical equipment.
- Assist with vaccination management and clinical stock control as needed.
