Job summary

We are looking for a phlebotomist to join our small but effective team. This is a new role in the practice working 3 mornings per week. We are a GP training practice and also train Physician associates and medical students.

The successful candidate will be fully supported both clinically and administratively.

The current working hours are:Mon Wed & Fri 8.30-12.00

There may be some felxibility with the hours however we are restricted due to room space and the sessions need to be on a morning so the bloods can get to the lab on the same day.

Main duties of the job

The main duties for this role are to provide clinics for pts to attend for to have blood taken as per the test requested.

About us

We are a small strong and supportive team. Staff are very welcoming to new comers. We have a lovely building to work in.

We are close to the town centre for transport connections for anyone who does not drive.

There is on street parking and or pay and display options not far from the practice too.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken will include most or all of the items in the following list; however duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the GPs/Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels.

PROFESSIONAL

  • Phlebotomy

ORGANISATIONAL

  • Advance preparation blood test request forms for own patients.
  • Clearing and stocking of phlebotomy consumables.
  • Preparing environment and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including own consulting room and other rooms when assisting with other procedures.
  • Maintain/update patient clinical records using practice templates to ensure all relevant information is captured and coded appropriately.
  • Monitoring and stocking of allocated anaphylaxis pack.
  • Knowledge of practice procedures and work in accordance with written protocols.
