Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive GP practice in Streatham. The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to our diverse patient population and work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent primary care services.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver general nursing services including:

    • Immunisations and vaccinations (childhood & adult)

    • Wound care and dressings

    • Cervical cytology (smears)

    • Health checks and lifestyle advice

  • Manage chronic disease clinics (e.g. asthma, diabetes, COPD, hypertension, SMI and Learning disability reviews)

  • Perform phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, and urinalysis

    • B12 and Depo injections

    • contraception review

  • Support infection prevention and control procedures

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using clinical systems (EMIS)

  • Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives

  • Work within NMC guidelines and practice protocols

  • Support safeguarding and public health initiatives

  • Assist in training and mentoring healthcare assistants where appropriate

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration
  • Experience working in a GP practice or primary care setting
  • Competent in cervical smears ,wound dressing and chronic disease management.
  • Phlebotomy trained
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • IT literate (EMIS desirable)

Desirable

  • Experience with QOF and clinical audits
  • Travel health training
