General Practitioner (Maternity Cover)

Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner to join our healthcare team on a fixed term contract covering maternity leave.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients ensuring high standards of patient safety and well-being.

Main duties of the job

  • Conduct thorough patient consultations to assess health conditions and medical histories (face-to-face, including home visits and telephone)
  • Diagnose a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses using clinical expertise and diagnostic tools
  • Prescribe medications and administer treatments in accordance with current guidelines
  • Develop personalised care plans, including referrals to specialists when necessary
  • Participate in practice meetings, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to prescribing safety, referral management, and QOF achievement
  • Educate patients on health maintenance, disease prevention, and management strategies
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with organisational standards on SystmOne

About us

Westcroft Health Centre hosts a wonderful team of 6 doctors and 3 Nurse Practitioners on a part- Time or Full- Time basis.

We are a very friendly and supportive training practice.We believe it is very important to achieve a good work life balance, and to maintain a good feeling of job satisfaction. Unfortunately, this has become a worsening challenge in the current climate across the NHS, so to address this, we actively look into ensuring that our team is not over-burdened by these pressures and that your hard work is appreciated.

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List (or eligible)

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience as a General Practitioner or similar role within a clinical setting
  • Experience with patient care across diverse populations
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with patients of all ages and backgrounds
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
