Reeth Medical Centre

Salaried GP

The closing date is 30 November 2025

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our outstanding rural dispensing practice in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. We are looking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic GP to work two sessions per week (Fridays preferred), with additional flexibility to provide holiday cover for the GP partner.

This is a rare chance to work in a traditional, community-focused setting where continuity of care and generalist clinical skills are at the core of what we do. The role is both rewarding and varied, ideal for a confident GP who thrives in an autonomous environment and values making a tangible impact within a rural population.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high-quality clinical care to a list of approximately 1,600 patients in a remote rural setting.

  • Work independently as the sole GP on duty during regular sessions, supported remotely as required.

  • Manage a broad range of clinical presentations, including acute and chronic conditions.

  • Contribute to the wider practice team and support a collaborative, patient-centred ethos.

  • Participate in holiday cover for existing GP partner, with flexibility around availability.

While experience in acute or emergency medicine would be advantageous, it is not essential. Enthusiasm, clinical competence, and a commitment to rural general practice are our key requirements.

About us

Reeth Medical Centre is based in one of the most beautiful and remote areas of England, offering an outstanding lifestyle opportunity as well as professional fulfillment. We are:

  • A single-handed dispensing practice serving a rural population across a large geographical area.

  • Rated Outstanding by the CQC in both 2015 and 2018.

  • A high-performing QOF practice, consistently achieving full targets for over 10 years.

  • Well integrated with local community services, social care, and voluntary groups.

  • Passionate about delivering traditional, holistic general practice while embracing innovation and service development.

The practice is located in Reeth, the capital of the northern Yorkshire Dales, with excellent access to walking, cycling, and outdoor pursuits. The towns of Richmond and Leyburn are just 20 minutes away.
