Job summary

We are seeking a friendly Administration Assistant with excellent communication and computer skills to join the friendly Admin team at Priory Surgery for 25 hours a week.

The role is varied, with tasks linking to all teams within the surgery.

The role is to provide a comprehensive administration service within the Practice to GPs, health professionals, the general public and other agencies.

This role would suit a flexible individual, with a 'can do' attitude. Primary Care experience is desirable, but not essential.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities of the post-holder will be patient registrations and deductions, dealing with Out of Hours and NHS 111 incoming summaries, processing NHS Mail, scanning and coding documents topatientsclinical records (including hospital correspondence and correspondence from other sources), and assisting with complaints management.Additional duties may includegeneral surgery administration.

Priory Surgery is a long-established GP training practice situated in South Bristol (a couple of miles from the city centre), providing Primary Medical Services to around 11,500 patients in the Knowle, Whitchurch, Totterdown and Brislington areas.

We are a friendly and progressive team working together to provide a high quality service, achieving high QOF standards and participating in primary care incentive schemes and enhanced services.

We are part of the Connexus Primary Care Network with four other local practices.

Essential

  • Minimum 2 GCSE passes or equivalent, Inc Math & English

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as a administrator, preferably in the public sector
  • Using Microsoft office software.

Desirable

  • An understanding of the day to day functions of General Practice
  • Previous experience working in an NHS environment.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent keyboard and computer skills
  • Demonstrable communication skills
  • An understanding of the principles of the Data Protection Act
  • Understands own role in ensuring the H&S of fellow staff members.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of primary care clinical computer systems
