Job summary

West View Surgery is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Primary Care Nurse / Practice Nurse to join our friendly, supportive and well established GP practice.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality, patient centred care to our local population. We welcome applications from experienced practice nurses and those looking to further develop their skills in primary care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for delivering safe, effective nursing care within a general practice setting. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of longterm conditions (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension)
  • Immunisations and vaccinations
  • Cervical screening
  • Wound care, dressings and removal of sutures
  • Health promotion and lifestyle advice
  • Supporting QOF, enhanced services and chronic disease reviews
  • Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records
  • Working collaboratively with GPs, HCAs, pharmacists and the wider practice team
  • Adhering to practice policies, clinical governance and infection control procedures

About us

  • We are a friendly, forward thinking training practice in a pleasant market town set between Bristol and Bath (5 miles either way). West View Surgery has around 8,000 patients and we have two excellent purpose-built premises in Keynsham.
  • Our three GP partners seek innovation in primary healthcare and are open to new ideas and ways of working. CQC rated the practice as good. We have full nursing and administrative support, employ via the PCN pharmacists who deal with most medication queries, First Contact Physios and a Paramedic and have the support of an Home Visiting Service.
