Dr Dowsett & Overs in Jarrow have an exciting opportunity for a salaried GP/GP partner to join our enthusuatic team for 6 sessions per week (flexible with days/times). We are a long-established practice with a multi-disciplinary, organised, and forward-thinking team with a list size of 4750 patients.

We have provided training opportunities for Sunderland University medical students in the past and whilst we are not currently a training practice, we would support and encourage potential applicants to take this forward to become a trainer.
Applicants with specialist interests will be encouraged to lead on this within the practice.

The practice is located within a community hospital and is within close proximately to local transport links as well as the town centre.
Main duties of the job
The
post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health
needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care
for all registered and temporary patients. In general the post-holder will
be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities
associated with a GP working within primary care.
GPs are supported by ANP WTE 0.4, Business Manager WTE 0.3, Practice manager WTE 0.9, Practice Nurses WTE 1.3, HCA WTE 0.7, Medical Secretaries WTE 1.8, and a team of medical reception/admin staff WTE 4.4

Responsibilities:
- In
accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will
make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including
surgery consultations, telephone/video consultations. E-consult and
queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat
prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a
timely fashion
- Making
professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether
self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the
organisation, using current clinical guidelines, NICE/health pathways
guidance
- Assessing
the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed
problems
- Screening
patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In
consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease
management protocols, developing care plans for health

counselling and health education

or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other
care providers as appropriate
- Recording
clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
