Job summary
Toddington Medical Centre is seeking a motivated Salaried GP to join a well-established, CQC-rated Good rural practice serving approximately 8,500 patients. The post offers 48 sessions (flexible), within a structured and supportive multidisciplinary environment.
The role involves delivering high-quality patient care through a balanced mix of face-to-face and remote consultations, supported by a fully embedded Total Triage model. Most patients are managed within 2472 hours, with strong administrative and pharmacy support reducing GP workload and enabling focus on complex clinical care. You will participate in a shared duty doctor rota, with appropriate safeguards and team-based support.
The practice benefits from a diverse workforce including GP partners, advanced practitioners, pharmacists, nurses, and ARRS roles such as GP assistants and social prescribers. As a recognised training practice, there are opportunities to contribute to the development of GP registrars, Cambridge medical students, and pharmacists.
We offer a clinically safe, well-governed environment aligned with General Medical Council standards, with strong emphasis on work-life balance, professional development, and sustainability.
Main duties of the job
The Salaried GP will provide high-quality, patient-centred care through a combination of face-to-face and remote consultations, managing a broad range of acute and chronic conditions in line with current clinical guidelines. The role includes participation in a structured Total Triage model, ensuring timely assessment and appropriate management of patient demand.
You will undertake routine and urgent clinics, contribute to a shared duty doctor rota, and carry out home visits where clinically necessary. Clinical decision-making will be supported by a multidisciplinary team, including pharmacists, advanced practitioners, nurses, and care coordinators, enabling safe and efficient workload distribution.
The postholder will be responsible for maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records, reviewing laboratory results, processing clinical correspondence, and completing associated administrative tasks within allocated time.
Active participation in clinical governance, safeguarding, and quality improvement activities is expected, alongside attendance at practice meetings and educational sessions. As a training practice, there may be opportunities to support and supervise GP registrars and medical students.
The role requires adherence to professional standards set by the General Medical Council, with a commitment to continuous professional development and safe clinical practice.
