Job Overview:

Darley Dale Medical Centre is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Phlebotomist or Health Care Assistant to join our friendly team.

Approx. 14 hours over 2 days per week on a Wednesday & Thursday - negociable

You should be an excellent team player and be able to assist the Practice Nurse and Clinical Team in the provision of safe patient care.

Main duties of the job

Role Specific Duties:

Ideally, candidates should have previous experience of:

o Phlebotomy

o Clinical observations

o Supporting chronic disease management

o NHS Health Checks

o Simple wound care

o Administering injections and immunisations and vaccinations under PSD

o Ear irrigation

o Assisting with coil changes and minor operations

o Spirometry

o IT skills, SystmOne

Clinical support, e.g.

o Fridge temperature checks

o Vaccine stock rotation and ordering

o Clinical stock management

o Emergency equipment and drug monitoring

o Clinical waste

o Cleaning of equipment

Chaperoning duties

Processing and managing laboratory samples requested by GPs and nurses

Maintaining equipment and re-stocking consumables within the practice.

Assisting the team in maintaining medication and vaccine stock, including management of the cold chain.

Attending monthly Nursing Team meetings and contributing accordingly.

Purpose: To assist the GPs and practice nurse team in the service and delivery of the care management of the practice population Responsible to: Senior practice nurse, practice manager and, ultimately, the GP Partners

Job Summary

The post holder works under indirect supervision of the practice nurse team lead and undertakes task and duties delegated by the practice nurse team or a suitably qualified regulated professional. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures while providing supervision to more junior staff.
