Job summary

Weaver Vale practice is a friendly well organised teaching practice with 9,200 patients.

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic aspiring caring GP to join us to help shape and develop the practice for the future.

The role is to cover a minimum of 6 sessions, but we are flexible around the number of sessions.

We are based in a large purpose-built health centre, shared with another general practice, with an integral pharmacy, district nurses and health visitors on site. We are adjacent to Halton General Hospital in Runcorn and are in easy reach of Liverpool, Manchester, and North Wales.

Main duties of the job

5-8 sessions a week (to include pro rata share of extended hours surgery)

6 weeks annual leave and 2 weeks study leave per year.

Traditional doctor patient relationship. Continuity of care is positively encouraged with fair share of admin.

No out of hours or weekend commitment

Well organised multidisciplinary team conducting home visits, medication letters and queries, and admin support to help minimise workload.

Well-being practice with full complement of allied health professionals to support delivery of care to patients.

Mentorship from senior GPs

Full contraceptive services provided with an opportunity to develop these skills.

Opportunity to become involved in teaching and practice development.

Protected time each month to undertake some practice development eg GSF, child health, safeguarding, if interested .

Good links with Runcorn PCN and other local practices.

CQC rated good with outstanding leadership

Job description

Job responsibilities

Act upon most alerts (e.g. QOF) and reminders during a routine consultation i.e. (10 minutes).

Provide all GP services required as part of the PMS contract held between Weaver Vale Practice and NHS England / Clinical Commissioning Group

Undertake surgeries during extended hours in accordance with the access needs of the practice population and the contractual obligation of the practice

Provide cross cover, where necessary, to other Weaver Vale Practice practices

Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate.

Provide appropriate preventative health care and advice.

Provide medical support as required to patients referred by nursing staff

Provide free certification in line with Schedule 9 of NHS GMS Regulations (1992).

Adhere to the practice prescribing formulary, local and national guidelines.

Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation;

Record clear and contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards;

Collect data for audit purposes;

Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible);

  • Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary and skill mixed team environment
  • Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF)

Desirable

  • Evidence of independent working in General Practice
  • Experience of supporting service change
  • Teaching of GP Reg/F2/Medical students/Nursing students
  • Accredited GP Registrar trainer or F2 Supervisor
  • Evidence of participation in QOF
  • Evidence of participation in Audit

  • Currently on the national performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register
  • CRB clearance
  • Have had an annual NHS appraisal

  • Evidence of further postgraduate educational activities in relevant fields
  • MRCGP
  • DCH
  • DRCOG
  • RCGP Substance Misuse Certificate Level 1 or 2
  • F2 supervisor training/teaching diploma (this is essential for HDS)
