Main duties of the job

As the Lead Clinical Pharmacist at East Croydon Medical Centre, you will oversee and manage a team of clerks and Pharmacy Technicians, ensuring their professional growth and efficient allocation of resources. Your role will involve conducting CQC searches and maintaining compliance, reviewing and implementing prescribing policies, overseeing emergency medication orders, and managing locally commissioned services claims.

You'll play a crucial part in workload allocation, prescription management, and conducting quality audits. In addition, you'll be the point of contact for the Integrated Care Board (ICB) prescribing team, facilitate clinician inductions, and actively contribute to the medical centre's quality outcomes framework (QOF) planning.

Essential

  • In depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence based healthcare.
  • An appreciation of the nature of GP's and general practices.
  • An appreciation of the nature of primary careprescribing, concepts of rational prescribing and strategies for improving prescribing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstate the ability to communicate complex and sensitive information in an understandable form to a variety of audiences (e.g. patients).
  • Is able to plan, manage , monitor, advise and review general mrdicine optimisation issues in core ares for long term conditions.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Able to obtain and analyse complex technical information.
  • Recognises priorities when problem solving and identifies deviations from the normal pattern and is able to refer to seniors or GPs when appropriate

Qualifications

  • Mandatory registration with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate diploma level or equivalent training/experience.
  • Independent prescriber or working towards/intent of gaining an independent prescribing qualification.
  • Minimum of two years working as a pharmacist demonstrated within a practice portfolio.
  • Experience in managing pharmacy services in primary care.
