Job summary
The role of the IT Applications Specialist is to develop in-house expertise across a range of clinical and non-clinical IT applications used by GP Practices in the Wakefield locality.
There will be a requirement to deliver effective ongoing support for systems used by General Practice. By optimising these systems, you will enable practices and other stakeholders to deliver efficient and high-quality care.
The main base will be Sandal Castle Medical Centre with some Hybrid- Working from home/Multiple sites across general practices in the Wakefield district
Main duties of the job
To develop knowledge and expertise across key IT applications used across the Wakefield area, including but not limited to PATCHS, Office 365 products and the NHS App.
To provide support and informal training to Clinical and Non-Clinical staff as required.
To work in partnership with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) to understand training needs and assist in developing training programmes and resources to support workforce development
To assist with the successful deploymentchanges to new and existing applications
Develop and explore existing and new applications that benefit all areas of clinical and non-clinical functions.
To create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) user guides and other training materials to support the roll out of training programmes
Liaise with internal and external IT teams to ensure applications are up to date and working as expected.
To ensure that key applications remain operationally fit for purpose and work with external software suppliers to resolve issues as they arise.
Act in accordance with the Data Protection act and Caldicott principles relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data at all times
To keep up to date with changes to working practice and suggest improvements and innovations to ensure best use of systems
To ensure personal knowledge of all used applications is to the highest standard it can be.

Conexus Healthcare CIC is the Federation for general practice in Wakefield, we have four areas of work.
1. Delivery of high-quality public facing Health and Wellbeing services across the Wakefield District: We develop, manage and deliver health and care services that support the population of the whole Wakefield district
2. Delivery of Training, Development and Consultancy support across the United Kingdom: We design and deliver a range of training courses, development activity and provide advice and guidance that supports general practices and other primary care organisations.
3. Supporting Our Practices and Primary Care Networks (PCNs): We support general practices and PCNs across the Wakefield district to be more resilient, sustainable and deliver better patient care and care for the health needs of their populations.
4. Providing a voice and influence for General Practice in the Health and Care System: We provide a forum to develop a unified voice for General Practice and support general practices to cooperate and work collaboratively with the wider health and care sector partners in the district.
Built within primary care, for primary care, Conexus Healthcare CIC works with local GPs and their practices to champion investment in and deliver effective primary care at scale. By connecting in this way, we are stronger, more resilient and can care effectively for over 370,000 local people together.
