Job summary

Taking care of patients who request to see a health care professional, diagnosing and treating patients who present with mild illnesses, and advising and seeing patients with their ongoing nursing and medical requirements. These patients will have fifteen minutes to appointments scheduled for them. It is necessary to see additional or urgent patients. By using telephone triage, the nurse practitioner will need to prioritise patient requirements and refer any essential patients for suitable investigations. Prior to making a referral for secondary treatment for a patient with issues, the registered GP should be consulted.

Treatment / Services GP Nurse will provide : Chronic Disease Management, Dietary advice, Blood pressure checks, Urinalysis, Health screening, Ear syringing (Desirable), Dressings, ECG, Phlebotomy, Routine injections, Contraception, Minor injuries, Routine immunisations and vaccinations, Removal of sutures / clips (Desirable), Baby immunisations, Assisting with the fitting of IUCD / IUS (Desirable), First registration checks / health surveillance / general health advice, Assisting with minor procedures in the treatment room, Provide general and specific health screenings to the practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to other members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary, Smoking cessation, Spirometry and Cervical screening
