The
Upton-upon-Severn Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a Paramedic to join our friendly clinical team of GP's, ANP's, practice nurses and
pharmacist.
This is an exciting new role for the Practice so the successful candidate should have the drive to make this role their own.
The paramedic will be required to work autonomously in the practice, providing a range of services such as assessment, diagnosis, treatment, telephone triage and referring patients appropriately, as well as supporting the management team in the reviewing of clinical policy and procedure.
Main duties of the job
As this is a new role for the Surgery, it is expected that the role will develop and expand once the successful candidate is in place, therefore the candidate should be flexible to change and driven to help mould the role and make it their own.
We anticipate that the following duties will be expected of the candidate (note that this is not exhaustive of duties):
- support with long term conditions
- Provide routine care to patients as required in accordance with local and national guidelines
- Triage patients and provide the necessary treatment
- Collect pathology specimens as required
- Maintain accurate clinical records including the use of templates and coding
- Act as the lead clinician when dealing with clinical emergencies
- Ensure that they adhere to the relevant patient group directives and local clinical pathways at all times
- Support the practice audit programme, undertaking audits when necessary
- Support and participate in shared learning within the practice
- Continually review clinical practices, responding to national policies and initiatives where appropriate
- Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events, applying a structured approach, i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)
- Take personal responsibility for own learning and development, including the requirement to maintain currency, achieving all targets set in own Personal Development Plan (PDP)
