Job summary

A great opportunity for you to join our GP practice based in Tower Hamlets East London. We are a friendly innovative practice consisting of 4 Partners with a team of doctors, pharmacist, nurse practitioner, First contact physiotherapist, practice nurse and health care assistants with full support from reception, administrative and management staff. List size 14,000 + and growing, GMS, Emis Web.

We are part of an enthusiastic PCN, working together with local practices to achieve better clinical care. Focused on team working, training and continuously developing our staff.

  • Six clinical sessions per week
  • Six weeks annual leave
  • Two weeks study leave
  • Wednesday, catered clinicallunches
  • Minimal clinical admin as pharmacists deal with prescriptions and admin and coders deal with most clinical documents
  • Support to take on clinical leadership roles
  • Opportunity to teach medical students, foundation doctors and GP registrars
  • Salary£11,500 per session plus paid MDU/MPS membership

Main duties of the job

We utilise a total triage model, so the right patients are seen by the right clinician at the right time.

Additional duties:

  • Low general admin including referrals, correspondence, lab results, and document processing.
  • One duty doctor session per week dealing with on the day appointments, queries and emergencies.
  • Attendance at practice meetings and training as and when appropriate
  • Insurance reports and other non-GMS work for patients as required
  • Mandatory training

Job description

Job responsibilities

a. Delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

d. Effective management of long-term conditions

e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles, working until 6.30pm

g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice

h. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

i. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

j. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives

k. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

l. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings

m. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financial management and HR

n. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
