Job summary

Portishead Medical Group has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our busy and friendly general practice team.

We need shifts for Mondays and Fridays, with one other day.

The focus of the role is the delivery of general practice nursing, to include all treatment room duties and support patients with long-term health conditions. You would be working with a team of nurses and health care assistants to provide urgent and preventative care.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing nursing care and treatment to patients, including wound care, vaccinations, and health checks
  • Assisting with chronic disease management, such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension
  • Administering medication and monitoring patients' responses to treatment
  • Undertaking health promotion activities, such as health education and screening programs
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and communicating effectively with the healthcare team
  • Participating in ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance clinical skills and knowledge

Record accurate patient information on the computerised medical system, including the use of computer records necessary for audit.

Responsibility for supervising Health Care Assistants and student nurses

Completing and updating templates to record information for Quality and Outcome Framework audits.

Health promotion and lifestyle advice.

To participate in the administrative and professional duties of the Practice team and prepare and present information for audit, when required.
