Job summary
We
are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP to join our friendly and
forward-thinking practice in the heart of Gosforth. The surgery serves a
patient population of around 13,500 and has operated a total triage system
using SystmConnect since February 2024 to ensure efficient, patient-centred
access to care.

Main duties of the job
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will be available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. The post holder will also take part in day time on call sessions weekly.

The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive team, including experienced GPs, practice nurses, HCAs, Pharmacists and a Frailty ANP. You will deliver high-quality, evidence-based care across a mix of online, telephone, and face-to-face consultations. You will benefit from regular clinical meetings and mentorship.
- Clinics consist of 12 x 15-minute appointment slots to support high-quality patient care
- Low visiting commitment (shared with our dedicated visiting service and Frailty ANP)

- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
- Providing counseling and health education.
- Ensuring appropriate follow up of patients.
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Collecting data for audit purposes.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- Working with and supporting other members of the primary health care team in delivering high quality primary health care.
- In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
- Promoting the application of standards and codes of Practice set by the Royal College of General Practice, General Medical Council, Department of health, and Local NHS Trust.
- Play a leading role in the practice achieving agreed QOF and other key performance indicator targets.
- Take lead responsibility for targets and service allocated.
