Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Dispenser to join our busy
and friendly team to provide a high-quality service to patients. The successful
candidate will possess a minimum of NVQ Level 2 and will be able to work 24
hours per week at our Bubwith surgery. The willingness to work at our South
Cave and Brough surgeries on occasion is also required.
The candidate we are seeking should be experienced in
delivering an efficient and courteous service, always maintaining
professionalism and discretion, and be able to work independently and as part
of a team. Good communication skills and attention to detail are essential
along with the flexibility to cover for annual/sick leave.

Main duties of the job
You will need to be a good communicator with excellent
interpersonal and customer service skills; especially under pressure. You will
have a range of patient facing and administrative tasks, so excellent
organisational skills and time management are critical. A caring, empathetic
character is also essential.
Your main duties will include dispensing NHS and private
prescriptions, providing a repeat prescription service via telephone, email,
SystmOne and repeat slips, adding to or amending patients SystmOne medication
records as advised by the doctors, and maintaining adequate stock levels of
drugs within the dispensary.

Job responsibilities
Dispensing NHS prescriptions for dispensing patients and
temporary residents, as well as private prescriptions to all patients
registered at the Practice, as required by the Partners. Handling cash and
checking exemption certificates in relation to this and advising patients on
the use/compliance of drugs as necessary.
Providing a repeat prescription service which includes
taking requests by telephone, email, SystmOne and repeat slips.
Adding to and/or amending patients SystmOne medication
record, as advised by the doctors e.g., discharge and hospital letters.
Ensuring an efficient service is maintained between Bubwith
and Holme on Spalding Moor surgeries with relation to the collection of
prescription requests and delivery of medication/prescriptions.
Maintaining adequate stock levels of drugs within the
dispensary, ordering as required (paying attention to costing) and checking all
invoices against stock received. Rotating stock to ensure short-dated lines are
used first. Date checking stock every
three months.
Keeping up to date with drug changes and advancements,
sharing useful information with the dispensary and clinical teams.
Processing MDS blister packs for those patients in need.
Maintaining up to date records of Controlled Drugs. Carrying out a weekly CD stock balance check
(on a rota basis with the other Bubwith dispensers).
Ensuring prescriptions are endorsed correctly, overleaf
completed by patient, counted, recorded and filed ready to be sent to the PPA
for reimbursement at the end of each month.
Maintaining good communications with other members of the
Practice to maximise benefits to patients.
Working in accordance with the Dispensary SOPs at all times.
Attending monthly dispensary meetings whenever possible.
Ensuring that Significant Events and Near Misses are reported and made
available to be discussed at the meetings.
Taking part in an annual Performance and Development review
as required by the Practice.
Keeping the dispensary clean, tidy and secure in order to
run efficiently.
