Job summary
6 Session GP Locum to cover Maternity at Cheviot Road Surgery . The job plan for the role will include mixed clinical duties including the management of a patient list. The role is for 6 sessions per week worked over Monday, Tuesdays, Thursday and Fridays from 8.30am till 6.30pm
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within Primary Care. The following list is not exhaustive.
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
About us
Cheviot Road & Shirley Avenue Surgery, located in the West of Southampton are supported but 9 GP Partners and 6 salaried GPs along with a professional and dedicated team of Nurses and Additional staff through our PCN, Southampton West PCN. We have a personal list model and value continuity of care for our patients. We are a training practice and hold weekly educational meetings which you would be more than welcome to join and participate in.

- - GMC Full Registration.
- - Membership of a recognised defence union (MPS/MDU)
- - Currently on performers list and never been removed from a performance list for detrimental reason.
- - Experience of GP clinical IT system.
- - A good understanding of Clinical Governance and quality issues as well as current health and social policy.
- - Self-motivated and hardworking with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- - Empathetic, honest, caring.
Desirable
- Use of EMIS PCS clinical computer system.
- Using Microsoft Office software.
- Experience of EMIS Web Clinical system.
- Experience of Primary Care.

- MRCGP
