An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to become part of a forward thinking, dynamic and friendly practice located on the Fylde Coast.
This position would involve working within our established administration team as a Medical Secretary. The admin team work extremely hard behind the scenes to ensure that patients have a positive experience when they have contact with the practice and we are seeking an individual who will be able to further enhance this team.
The position will be for up to 30 hours a week. The working days and times can be negotiated for the right individual.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to enhance our current administration team with an enthusiastic and committed individual who can demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and work effectively as part of a team.
As a secretary and a member of the admin team you will need to be able to demonstrate strong verbal communication skills, be able to use your own initiative and be computer literate. The ideal candidate will have a confident telephone manner, and will posses the ability to work accurately, work both independently and as part of a team and with attention to detail.
They will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of secretarial and
administrative duties and the provision of administrative support to the
multidisciplinary team.
Duties can include, but are not limited to, the
processing of information (electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner,
liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as
secondary care and community service providers in accordance with current policies,
including the use of the electronic referral service (ERS).

the Medical Secretary. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out
other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing
levels:
a. Typing letters, reports and associated
documentation as required
b. Liaising with external agencies such as
hospitals and community services, ensuring referrals are processed efficiently
c. Managing all enquiries in an effective
manner
d. Maintaining an accurate referrals
database
e. Processing calling letters as requested
f. Scanning of patient related
documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records
g. Inputting data into the patients
healthcare records as necessary
h. Processing referrals using the
electronic referral system (ERS)
i. Answering incoming phone calls,
transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
j. Managing all administrative queries as
necessary
k. Carrying out system searches as
requested
l. Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective
working area at all times
m. Supporting all clinical staff with general
administrative tasks as requested.
