to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Health Care Assistant at their busy
NHS GP practice.
The successful applicant must
have a good range of skills and be able to work on their own initiative.
Good communicational skills are essential .

Emis web computer system and provide high quality care for their patients.
The ideal candidate will
already have worked as a Health Care Assistant in General Practice and hold the
relevant qualifications and experience.

Main duties include:
- Dressings and Wound care
- ECGs
- Phlebotomy
- Spirometry
- Health Checks
- Chaperoning duties
- Processing and management of laboratory samples
requested by GP/Nurses
- Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and
recording
- New patient health checks
- Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
- Preparing and maintaining environments and
equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including
assisting GPs
- Helping to raise awareness of health and
well-being and how it can be promoted
Assisting with the collection
and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being.

Job responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities of our Health Care Assistant role are
- Phlebotomy
- Undertake ECG measurement
- Undertake dressings
- Carry out Dopplers and compression bandaging
- Removal of sutures
- Carry out BP checks and Hypertension checks
- Pill checks
- Chronic disease Care planning appointments to include foot checks
- Ambulatory blood pressure measurements
- Anti coag monitoring in surgery and home visits
- H Pylori testing
- Maintain accurate records and update all patient information as required, manually and by using the surgery computer as appropriate
- Ensure specimens are sent to laboratory
- Consulting rooms
- Purchase and room stocking of consulting room equipment
- Management of equipment (including forms)
- Clinical Waste and Infection control
- B12/ Pneumococcal/ Flu immunisation
- Assisting GPs with coil fits and implant
- Chaperoning
- NHS Health Checks
- Support training for staff learning venepuncture skills
- Attend training courses to develop skills appropriate to the requirement of the practice
- Be prepared to impart information to any trainee doctor or other healthcare professional about the system and protocols of any aspect of the work when required
